Quick Update

The blog has been quiet for a while, because I had a lot of work finishing my project. I basically devoted most of May to traveling, but all my projects have to be finished until the beginning of June, so this past week has been pretty busy for me.

It’s pretty late already and I’m all packed and ready to leave at 3 a.m. Me and my friend are going to Naples and Ischia island for 5 days. So I probably won’t have much time to write posts, but I’ll try to use Instagram us much as possible, so follow me to stay tuned! :)

A Weekend Trip to the Seaside

Koper is the biggest town on Slovenia’s coastline. It mainly has industrial importance (there’s the most important port of Slovenia) and isn’t really a typical tourist point. However it’s getting more interesting each year with great cafés and ice cream shops opening up. We planed a relaxed day there last weekend. We walked around for a bit, stopping for a cup of coffee and ice cream on our way. In the afternoon there was a festival called Dan vina in čokolade (Wine and chocolate day).

Later on our way home we stopped for a dinner in the little village Hrastovlje. The village is known for it’s Romanesque church with the important Gothic fresco called Dance of Death inside. We decided to eat at  Škrgat tourist farm. Everything was home-made and seriously delicious. I can only recommend them!

Rise and Shine

Last Thursday a friend had an idea to wake up really early and go somewhere to watch a sunrise. I was the one she shared the idea with and the one enthusiastic (trying really hard not to use the word ‘crazy’ here) enough to agree to meet at 5:45 a.m. and  go to the hilltop nearby with our cameras. Although I almost regretted agreeing to meet up the evening before  it was sooo worth it!

Me and my friend drove to the village of Dobeno and walked up to the hilltop of Rašica, with a viewing tower on top. The forest was completely quiet, the air was crisp and we were walking really fast, determined to get to the top before the sunrise. I felt so fresh and kind of powerful. When we arrived to the top we were completely alone up there for more than 30 minutes. It was truly wonderful.

There’s also the great feeling of achievement when you wake up while most of the people are still sleeping. Lately my days have been quite light and there’s little for me to do. I’m used to having packed schedule so now I feel a little useless just sitting at home with my empty ‘to do’ list. However I try to keep myself busy and I’m also the perfect target for friends with crazy plans like ”Do you want to wake up at 4 a.m. tomorrow and play miniature golf?” haha! :)
